View MenuMJ Hernandez, born and raised in Manila, Philippines, migrated to the U.S. in 2008 with a drive to make the most of his opportunities. A pivotal moment came when he watched No Reservations featuring the Philippines, igniting his passion for showcasing his heritage through food. Steering away from the expected nursing path, he chose to pursue a career as a chef, managing and growing Bonifacio, Columbus’ first full service Filipino restaurant with now business partner Krizzia Yanga. Over the past eight years, their venture has earned national recognition, including features on Burgers, Brew, and ‘Que, Food & Wine Magazine, and Buzzfeed. As Vice President of Business Development, he drives the company’s growth initiatives and strategic planning. Outside of work, he is the bassist and lead vocalist of a local band currently writing their first album.
